Robert
Bobb Gets Endorsement from Local Advocacy Group
EdAction DC Backs Bobb for School Board
President
(Washington DC) On
Saturday, September 30, 2006, EdAction DC officially
announced its decision to endorse Robert Bobb for
President of DC Board of Education.
“EdAction enthusiastically
endorses Robert Bobb for President of the DC
Board of Education. After interviewing
several candidates and engaging in the honest
and rigorous discussion that is a trademark of
this group, EdAction members came to a consensus
on the decision to support Bobb, “says Kaya
Henderson, Co-Chair of EdAction DC.
EdAction DC, founded in 2000, is a volunteer group
of parents, education professionals, and community
members working to catalyze positive change in
the District of Columbia’s school system. The
group's focus has been on identifying and supporting
effective leadership for the DC school board.
“EdAction seeks out
candidates who have both the skill and the will
to make positive change for students and parents
in the District. We were uniformly impressed
by Bobb's passion for improving academic outcomes
for our city's children, by his impatience at
the current pace of change, and by his proven
track record of holding people accountable to
achieving goals,” states Abigail Smith,
Co-Chair of EdAction DC.
EdAction DC has successfully mobilized its membership
for two previous Board of Education races; including:
Julie Mikuta in 2000 and Victor Reinoso in 2004. The
group recently endorsed Lisa Raymond for the open
District III seat, representing Wards 5 & 6.
