Robert Bobb Gets Major
Endorsement
The Washington Post calls him “the
one for the job.”
Washington
DC) On
Tuesday, October 24, 2006, The Washington Post
officially announced
its decision to endorse Robert Bobb for President
of DC Board of Education.
“Of the five candidates
for school board president, we endorse Robert
C. Bobb. As city administrator, Mr. Bobb lived
up to a reputation as a top-notch manager at
the forefront of reformers. No other school board
candidate can match Mr. Bobb's familiarity with
budgets and finance or his understanding of the
difference between policymaking and administration.
Micromanagement is not his style. His intimate
knowledge of city operations and key city players
in and out of government would make him a tremendous
asset to the school board and superintendent.
His main focus -- improving student outcomes
-- puts him on the same page as Mr. Janey and
Mr. Fenty. His approach to policy development
and oversight should mesh well with the superintendent,
board members and the next mayor... at this
critical moment in the school system's history,
Mr. Bobb is the one for the job.''
Bobb has also received endorsements from the Current
Newspapers, the Gertrude Stein Club, EDAction Group,
American Federation of State, County, and Municipal
Employees (AFCME), AFL-CIO District Council 20,
the InTowner Newspaper, and DC City Councilmember
Jim Graham.
